Hello loves and happy Monday, Last week was pure madness at my work and in life, so I apologize for not posting anything. But now that i was typing away this next post, I came… More
This post might start off a little weird or confusing. Yes, we’re moving. No, not anytime soon.
We’re actually planning on moving this time, Spring, of next year. Both my boyfriend, Zach, and I have always known that Colorado was a “one-stop-shop” for both of us. A place to spend some time, but not to settle. We both love the beach and warm weather, so Florida seemed like the perfect place to move to and settle down in.
I have only visited Orlando and Miami but Zach has lived on the Gulf coast of Florida for three years and we both agreed that it would be a much better place both for our minds and other things like work and raising a family. It’s just way too cold in Colorado during the autumn, winter and even spring (it snowed this past Friday night through Saturday night non-stop…)! I also grew up in Barcelona, where the beach and sea food and warm summer days are something I’ve missed for a very long time since I moved to Denver for university.
Now that I’ve graduated and Zach is about to as well, we thought we would start planning early and make sure everything is set for when we decide to move. And in the midst of thinking about what we need now and what we’ll need coming next Spring, I thought it would be nice to include you all in this planning phase and everything that needs to happen before you can move from the center of America to the southmost end.
Here are a couple things that we’ve already put on our list:
- Shipping/ driving our cars
Both Zach and I have cars and what we were thinking of doing it shipping one of the cars (most likely mine because it’s smaller and wouldn’t fit much stuff anyways) and then hook the other car to our moving truck. We don’t have a lot of things, so a small U-Haul should suffice for both our things. Everything else should fit in the car we’d be hauling.
- How we’ll transport our pets
This might seem silly, but we own a dog (Shelby), a parakeet (Pearl, but I call her Perlita) and our Beta fish Hank. Shelby should do just fine with us on the passenger seat, but trying to keep Perlita calm in a car is going to be challenging, as well as making sure that Hank doesn’t end up without any water from the car movements.
- Finding and renting a place
Once we move we won’t have jobs, which is crucial to sign a lease and secure a place. So what we’ll do is save for six months worth of rent and just stay somewhere cheap until we have a steady income and can upgrade to a more comfortable and bigger place.
- Finding jobs / quick work we can do
Since we are moving from so far, it’s going to be challenging to find and interview for jobs while we’re in Denver. So we’re thinking about starting our search when it’s about December and being ready for interviews when we’re there at the beginning of spring. We’re thinking that any type of work, an entry level administrative assistant or clerical job, should keep us going until we are settled and we can apply for jobs in our fields.
- How we’ll get there
As mentioned in the beginning, we’ll have to rent a moving truck to get our things there. But just so we can be a bit more comfortable, we think that I’ll probably fly down first, find us and rent a place. The reason why we’re thinking about doing this is because it will be much easier and cheaper to do this than if we both go together and have to spend money in hotels while we’re looking and visiting places. Plus, it will be much easier if we have a place by the time the pets come down. The trip is stressful enough for them and this way they can arrive straight to their new home.
So those are my biggest priorities and planning to-does for now. I have to admit, Pinterest have been my BEST FRIEND in this. They have the simplest, most helpful boards and pins about moving and lists, but especially how to make it easy and as painless as possible. Here is my current favourite board: http://pin.it/bUTaqC2
Follow my pinterest for more ideas and tips on how to move, as well as my fashion inspiration, pet DIYs and more (yaraws) ! I’ve included a couple screenshots down below of my favourite boards or pins from my Pinterest that you can find here, here, here, here and here
Comment below if you have moved across the country before; what was your experience? What are tips you suggest to make it as smooth as possible? Any tips for planning this far out?
Lots of love, Yara
Hey loves, happy Friday!
I know this post schedule has been all over the place, but I think I will stick to Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and maybe Sundays too. I’m not sure about Sunday, just because that’s the day I like to spend with my loved ones.
Now onto what this blog really is supposed to be about. It has definitely taken me some time to figure out what worked for my skin and what didn’t. And don’t get me wrong, I have NOT spend tons of dollars on skin care. Just because it takes so long to see if something has a good effect on your skin and what makes you break out. Keeping it simple and consistent really has been my main focus.
And The Body Shop has been my holy grail for the last two years. Their products just have been so good to my skin and making sure it looks and feels it’s best in the crazy weather that the state of Colorado has (two days of snow and then a warm day…). The Body Shop products are also super affordable and the best part is: they’re 100% vegetarian and cruelty free. So you’re getting a great product, at a great price and for a good cause. Who doesn’t love that?
The first product I use after a long day of work and running errands is their Camomile Silky Cleansing Makeup Removing Oil (try saying that 10 times…). This product is MAGIC. Whether you’re wearing foundation, concealer and setting powder or super waterproof mascara, this cleansing oil will melt it into nothing. Just one or two pumps is enough to rub it onto your face and see all your make up come off. At this point, I can’t live without it. There are two different of these cleansers, this liquid one and this cleansing butter. I want to try the butter next, but I know I’ll have a backup of the oil just in case. That’s how much I love it.
Next I use this cleansing gel which is so good at removing any residue the oil might leave on your skin, plus it makes sure ALL of the make up is gone. Since I have oily skin, it also keeps it nice and balanced, not crazy stiff but clean and firm. Sometimes I will use it with my Vanity Planet cleansing brush, to get a deeper cleanse of my skin. I use the softest one of the brush-heads and just place the gel on it before gently cleaning my face. The brush is waterproof, so I love using it when I take a shower or bath at night.
Next come my two favoutite products in the whole process: masks! So I have two from The Body Shop that I absolutely love. First is this deep cleansing mask. Like I said, I do have very oily skin, and this mask works wonders for it. It deep cleans, gently exfoliates and finally purifies your skin, leaving it feeling like new. When t.h.a.t. time of the month comes and I can feel pimples coming in, I’ll try using this mask twice a week and keep my skin flawless. I even had Zach (my boyfriend) give it a try the other day when he got a pimple and he was shocked the next day when the pimple was reduced to a small and dry little mark before disappearing completely. It WORKS !!
But cleansing and exfoliating your skin too much can dry it out, and not even someone with oily skin like me wants that. To combat too much dryness and keep my skin healthy, I switch up my masks and use this one once a week. It is a leave-in mask, you just apply a thin layer onto your skin after cleansing it and just go to sleep. In the morning I’ll just gently wash it off with a cloth I have wetted with hot water. Your skin will look so plump and hydrated and healthy after using this product.
Finally, after all these treatments and products, I like to finish my skin care off with this moisturizer, which is soothing and feels so good as well (I have just run out of it, so this weekend I’m definitely making a pit stop at the mall to get it again!). Yes, I use a day cream even if it’s my night-time skincare routine, just because I like to use an old-school SPF cream in the mornings. The reason why I like to use this specific cream is because it is made of organic and natural products and just adds pure hydration to your skin. It also doesn’t make my skin feel more oily than it already is, which is my favourite part.
Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions for me in the comments down below. Is there anything I’m not doing which you think is a must? Is anybody else as obsessed with The Body Shop as I am?
Lots of love, Yara
Hello beauties and happy Wednesday!
If you know anything about me, this won’t come as a surprise:
I love animals !! Love love love them!!
And since I have been in the US, living by myself and trying to get the hang of being and adult and being responsible for myself and such, I have had the chance and luck to own animals. I seriously love everything about it.
First up is our baby girl Shelby. She is a 6 month old Jack Russell Terrier. And to be completely honest, she is the last dog breed I ever thought I would own. I’m a big dog lover. My dream dog (still..) is a Belgian Malinois or a German Shepherd. I like big, protective dogs. But I’m not going to lie, that owning Shelby has given me a whole new prospective on this small dog breed and it’s capabilities. She is WICKED smart. And I mean insanely smart…
We do not keep her on a leash when we walk and she will just run a meter or two in front of us and the immediately run back to us. She waits at all crossings for us to let her go and will even come and sit by our feet when we see another dog and call her to come wait and see if she’s allowed to say hi to them. I really could just blabber on and on about her. I’m extremely impressed by how quickly she learns to listen to commands and even fetch the ball (we didn’t have to teach her, she simply started bringing the ball back for us to throw it for her…).
Plus, she has the cutest puppy face and has everyone wrapped around her finger. Since she is a female Jack Russell, she is toward the smaller size and currently weighs 9 pounds. Zach wants her to grow more, but I think she’s the perfect size: manageable but not tiny.
This is Perlita, our parakeet baby girl. The reason why we got her a couple weeks ago is because I grew up with parakeets when I was younger (Zach too). I just love their company and how much fun and sweet they can be once they get used to you and being out of their enclosure.
I also love it when they sing and talk. I have been reading tons of blogs and online magazines about how to keep them busy when they’re alone and how to keep their minds entertained and young. Birds are great companions and really easy to take care of. I usually change her water every single day and refill her food every other day (she is a slow and messy eater). As far as cleaning her bird cage, it just has a small tray that pops out at the bottom and you can just remove that and throw the paper or newspaper out and put a new one in. Easy and quick!
Zach is obsessed with fish. Fishing, fish and fish tanks. He loves them and would love to have a huge salt water fish tank. But if you read my last blog post we are planning on moving to Florida in a year and it wouldn’t be smart to invest our money and time into a big fish tank that would be very hard to transport down to the other end of the country in a U-Haul. So instead, we decided to get Hank (on a trip to just “look” around the pet store). Beta fish are resilient and easy pets, if you’re wanting to start yourself. They can live mostly anywhere (fish bowls, small tanks like ours or anything bigger/ better) and don’t need much.
Obviously you cannot interact as much with a fish as you can with a parakeet or dog, but they’re still fun to watch and own. They are definitely the best pet to start with, since dogs to take lots of time and commitment (with walks and training etc.) just like parakeets, if you want them to be friendly and used to be around people.
Let me know and comment below if you have any questions about any of them or would like to know some more in depth information on them. I’d love to start writing more about them.
Lots of love, Yara
There is a new post up on my blog. Go check it out and leave me a comment on your questions, ideas or suggestions !! Lots of love, Yara Planning Early for Our Move!
Happy Wednesday loves!
Spring is here and that means that summer is right around the corner. If you’re anything like me, then the New Years resolutions have lasted about a month after setting them and now you’re worried to catch up with the gym and a healthier diet so that you can look your best for the summer months.
And believe me, I have honestly stopped worrying about New Years resolutions and focused more on keeping my lifestyle healthy throughout the year.
So today I thought I would share my little tips and tricks on how to get ready and stay ready for the summer. Plus, hopefully these are easy enough that you can keep doing them even after the summer and through autumn and winter.
5 Easy Things I Do to Get Ready for the Summer:
1. Feeling good is looking good
To me, looking good doesn’t just happen on the outside with make up or a cute outfit, but also from the inside. What I love the most about summer are the long days and warm nights where you get to enjoy every little piece of your day. With the hot days, comes the thirst, and if you live in a dry-aired place like me then water should be the number one item in your purse, car, office and home. I cannot leave the house without my water bottle anymore. I freaking love it. I have the S’well Bottle in silver (ummm… used to be my boyfriends but he doesn’t use it so…) and it is the best bottle I have ever owned. When the day starts, I’ll pour my tea in there (currently loving the Twining’s Lady Grey tea) and it will keep it hot ALL DAY LONG. Yes, that’s right. All day. I obviously finish it in the first couple hours at the office, but I do love the fact that you don’t have to rush drinking the tea just because of the fear of it getting cold. And after that, I will refill the bottle with water and constantly drink throughout the day. Water is so important for our bodies and we really don’t give it enough credit.
2. Exercising tailored to you!
Nowadays, there are a lot of health channels and blogs and trainers who offer great ideas and routines on how to stay in shape. I’m definitely one that loved going on Instagram or Pinterest and look at all the exercise routines people did to get into shape. But now, as much as I continue looking for ideas, I have found that keeping my routine simple and old school is what works best for me. I have to admit that having a Marine boyfriend is probably what helps me stay consistent the most, but we usually just go to the gym, I’ll do cardio two to three times a week and after that I will join him and just work on one muscle (sometimes muscle group like shoulders and back or gluteus and legs) a day. Of course I miss the gym sometimes but on those days I just try to go outside and walk our puppy an extra half hour at a higher pace. Exercising doesn’t have to happen at a gym, you can also customize and do it all at home or outside if the weather allows you to. My biggest advice is that no matter what you do, you enjoy it. Because then, you’ll be excited to get to do it every day.
3. Summer food ❤️
Summer meals are hands down (after Nutella and other sweets of course) my absolute favourite. All the fruits that are in season during summer make me want to move to a tropical place because I could eat those ALL DAY LONG! I love making huge salad bowls to snack on all day, eating tons and tons of fruit, making juices and enjoying some fruity ice cream. I don’t know about you, but my appetite definitely changes in the summer. I crave cooler, lighter meals like salads with chicken breast or tacos or even yogurt bowls with lots of granola and fruit. On Sunday’s my boyfriend and I will usually go to the store and get food for the week. And if they’re ready, I’ll buy a pineapple and a watermelon and will cut them up so that we can snack on them whenever we want and they’ll be ready.
4. Looking tan without damaging your skin
I’m from a coastal city, so tanning and sunbathing is definitely something I have done for a very long time. The more time passes, however, one realizes that hurting your skin and risk having things like skin cancer are not something worth looking tan for. Now, we all know that there is a solution for this all: Self Tanners !!
And thank the Lord for fake tanners! I love being tanned all year around but that’s hard to do when you live in a state like Colorado where 4 months out of the year it’s cold enough outside where you could turn yourself into an icicle. Plus, there are so may self-tanning products out there that are super affordable, so I have no excuse. My favorite is This One from Jergens. I get it at Target for about $10 and it’s so good! It goes on just like a lotion and I like to do it at night so it can really develop and be dark in the morning. Then you take a quick shower to wash off the excess and Voila! I want to upgrade to the Loving Tan tanners, but they’re a bit too pricey for me to keep buying them right now.
5. Summer outfits
Who doesn’t love all the summer outfits? Cute shorts and skirts and dresses, not having to wear 100 layers of jackets, scarves, sweaters, gloves and socks… I definitely do! But if we try to keep up with fashion trends, we might end up broke (at least me, cause I’m not rich by any means). So I always love having 3-4 staples in my wardrobe that I can mix and match with items I already own or that are affordable, and this way you can always look cute and not break the bank.
One item that will never be missing in my closet is skirts. Long ones and shorter ones, I love skirts! I think they just look good on everyone and with almost everything. You can dress them up with some heels and silkier shirts or dress them down with flats.
There are also so many affordable stores that have a huge variety of cute tops and shirts, so I love to just wear simple white or denim jeans and pair them with a nice shirt. ShowPo, H&M, J Crew Factory and many other stores have super affordable options for everyone.
So there are my five little suggestions on how to get summer ready. I hope these are helpful, but if you guys have questions or more suggestions, write them in the comments below. I’d love to know how you guys get ready.
Lots of love, Yara
Hi lovelies and happy Wednesday!
I thought long (obviously since it is mid-April already… hihihi sorry guys!) about writing this post, just because I wasn’t sure I would have enough to write in it or share. But I do love reading and watching other people’s monthly favourites just because a lot of times it gives me ideas or introduces me to knew products that I end up loving.
So I thought I would share the couple things from lifestyle and beauty to fashion that I have been loving in the past month and hope you guys can find something that will help you or make things easier for you!
My March Favourites
L’Oreal Paris True Match Concealer
This concealer is so underrated! I used to only purchase Nars’ Creamy Concealer and don’t get me wrong, that one is still in my top 3 concealers. However, this L’Oreal concealer is less than $10 and lasts ALL DAY. It is light weight, which makes it feel like you’re wearing nothing on your face, but it covers the darkest undereye circles.
It really is an amazing concealer and I think it’s so affordable for most people who don’t want to spend more than $10 or $20 on a concealer that might only last you two months if you wear it every day. There is not much more that I can say about this product other than that it is incredible and you should all try it out!
Batiste Dry Shampoo
If you’ve read my morning routine (link to that post here), then you know I cannot live without this item. I’ve been working out every day of the week this Spring and going to those fun gym classes and I cannot be bothered to wash my hair every day. I know some people will think, say or comment that it’s nasty, but seriously.
First of all, washing your hair every day is bad as is. I know lots of girls with long hair will totally understand me. Secondly, who has time to wash and moisturize and blow dry their hair every day? Not me… And finally, I have the solution for this problem so why not use it? Batiste has, hands down, the best dry shampoo I have ever tried. I have very oily hair and was never able to go for more than 2 days without looking disgusting.
This dry shampoo is light but works like a heavy weight fighter. It removes all the oil in your scalp and makes your hair smell so good. I’m seriously obsessed and constantly but new fragrances to try. They have tons. You can get them at Target, Ulta and the Batiste website.
Pure Protein Whey Powder
I’ve mentioned this protein powder in My Morning Routine (Again… sorry :S) and as much as I didn’t want to sound repetitive, this one is SO GOOD. Now that I’ve been working out almost every day during the week I do feel like I get tired faster and the best part is that I sleep like a baby. Downside to all of this is the exhaustion when I work out in the morning.
My boyfriend says you have to “feed your muscles” after you work them and he is right. So this powder does exactly that. 23 Grams of protein in 130 calories, it is gluten free and has no artificial colors, sweeteners or flavours. I get mine at Target and it’s just $20.99!
It gives you energy to get on with your day, it makes you feel satisfied so I don’t go around munchin on snacks and it helps with muscle-soreness. I take it in the morning, so I love taking this healthy and protein-packed shake (I usually just do a banana, a little bit of honey to sweeten it and some whole or 2% milk).
This might seem a funny pick, but I’ve been using this blanket NON-Stop since I got it. Especially on those days that are nice and warm but then turn into chilly nights here in Colorado, it has been great to just leave this on the couch where I can reach for it easily. It truly has become one of the best purchases I did in December. Plus, it is pink and white and grey, which I’ve been obsessed with lately.
I wasn’t able to find a link to it, but if you have a Costco near you, it will be in the blanket section and I believe it was under $20 (Steal!!). P.S.: Shepby seems to like the blanky just as much… She’s on it half of the time when I try to use it, so we have to share.
I love candles. I love how they make the house smell, I love the ambiance they give and I love how cozy and lovely it makes rooms feel. One of the most important aspects for me that show a candle is good is when it not only looks good, but smells amazing.
For the longest time, I used to only buy Bath and Body Works candles because when you lit them, they actually made the whole room, even a large living space, smell incredible. Plus, all the fragrances they have are exceptional. But last week I was walking around Downtown Golden, which is one of my favourite towns in Colorado, and I found this little shop hidden between the bigger entrances. As soon as I walked in, I knew I wouldn’t leave that place empty-handed. It’s called XXX and they hand-make all of their candles.
What’s so different about these is that they are all natural and contain soy wax and natural oils which we all know smell SOOOOO good. The owner, who makes them right there in her shop also makes them with aspen leafs and other branches, which you can see through the fire as soon as you light the candles. My favourite part is that they’re made so that the candle burns vertically. So once you’ve burnt the center, you can use a tea candle to continue to use the amazing exterior. I love supporting local businesses and after finding this place, I know I’ll be back for more candles as soon as these are done.
I’m a flats kind of girl and I love wearing them every day during the spring and summer. Whether it’s flats or short heels for work and going out, it seems that I tend to get blisters so easily. As much as regular plasters are the first thing I see people suggesting or using, there is only one thing that I will trust my feet with: Advanced Healing Blister Cushions from Band Aids.
Band Aids is obviously leader in it’s category since lots of people even call plaster “bandaids,” however, they seriously out-did themselves with these ones. They are super snug on the back of your feet, don’t slide to the side or up/down and help heal any previous blisters you have. It’s a must-have in all of my purses (I keep one or two in a small pouch that I just carry in whatever purse I’m using at the moment) and when I’m about to run out, I always go and buy another pack.
If you get blisters easily like me, this is going to help you out so much. I even cut them small and use them around my toes or on the side of my feet if I get any there.
Tobi White Cardigan
Where I live, in Colorado, Spring has not really arrived yet. Some days are really really warm and then all of a sudden, the temperature drops in the afternoon and you’re freezing your pretty little bum off. Since moving here from Barcelona, I have learned to always have a warm jacket in my car and keep a cardigan around the house.
This one from Tobi is my absolute favourite. It’s in my favourite color at the moment, white and cream, it’s snuggly and super cozy. Plus, it was less than $20 dollars (heart-eyed emoji). If you tend to get cold all the time like me, this is going to be your best purchase for the transition from Winter to Spring/ Summer.
It also looks great if you wear a cute pair of jeans and a simple tank top or over a cute dress if you’re not sure what the temperature is going to be like. The sleeves are wide, which I think looks so fitting on any person and I just roll them up so they’re out of the way while I do things around the house.
“Follow Your Dreams” Notebook
Who doesn’t like to take notes anymore? I feel like it has come back to not rely so much on our technology and write lists and notes to keep up with our lives and to-does. I sure looooooove writing everything down. I make lists for the grocery store, at work for my tasks, at home for cleaning to-does and even for activities with my puppy and boyfriend.
Everything is written down and saved somewhere, believe me. I even like to put the dates and locations of printed pictures I have around the house and in my albums. I just love being able to look back and remember what I was doing. Plus, I have the memory of a fly, so writing things down is a must if I need to remember to do it.
In order to accomplish that, I have a best friend: my notebooks. I normally get all of my notebooks at Target (including the one in my picture). However, I wasn’t able to find it on the Target website, but did find the style on the Eccolo’s Website here. These notebooks/ journals are incredible because they have loads of pages and very wide lines on those to scribble all your ideas and lists on. I’m also fairly certain that it was less than $20. Hopefully I can get an Erin Condren Life Planner soon, it’s my dream planner. But it’s always good to keep notebooks around the house in case you need them.
This is another item which has become really popular in the last year and I always found it funny because I’ve seen my mother use it since I was a little girl. It’s just SO USEFUL for SO MANY things. My mom is brazilian and used to use coconut oil for cooking and to moisturize. It is economical (more than expensive lotions or other oils) and makes everything smell so much better (like light coconut).
I couldn’t be more obsessed with it as well. I bought one tub for the kitchen, which we use to cook some of our food, then we have one in the bathroom which I (yes… my boyfriend thinks he is too cool for coconut lotion) use to moisturize my body after I shower. I prefer to do it at night, just because it is pretty sticky and won’t let your pants go on too easily hahahah
And that is it for today’s blog. I hope these items are helpful to you guys. I know they’re nothing new but I at least love to sometimes be reminded of different ways to use products or options (hacks or dupes) to high end products that look or are just as good!
If you guys have any questions or comments, leave them down below!
Lots of love, Yara
I hope you’re all having a happy and blessed Monday. Even though today is Monday, I noticed that yesterday was already looking at what I have to do to be ready for today, like what clothes I wanted to wear, what had to be ready for work, this week and so on… And the more I thought about it, the more I realized how excited I was to get up today and start with my routine.
I’m definitely a morning person. I just love waking up at 5:30 or 6 and getting on, with plenty of time, about my day while being able to get everything done that I need to. And the more I’ve gotten used to starting my day a little bit earlier, the more I’ve learned to enjoy the small things that I love doing.
So with no further do, here is how I get ready on a work day.
Like I mentioned, I’ve always been a morning person. Ever since I was young, I always loved waking up early with my dad and getting ready with enough time to have a good breakfast. And not much has changed.
I usually wake up at around 5:45 am during the week and head over to the bathroom to brush my teeth and freshen up. I’ll put on my work out clothes and head to the living room area. Our puppy Shelby sleeps in a little play-pen, so I go over there to see her brightly-awake little face and let her out for a quick wee.
Luckily, there is a little grass patch right in front of the place where we live. So I can take her on a quick stroll around the block so she can go to the bathroom and let some energy out.
I usually try to combine some type of cardio, whether it is running or doing the elliptical, and some strength workout too. I’m lucky that my boyfriend has been working out much longer than me, so after a 30 minute elliptical session I join him and work on whatever muscle group he is working on.
Once we’re done at around 7 o’clock, we’ll head back home to get ready for work. I’ll usually shower first because it does take me slightly longer than him to get ready. I change up my shampoo every time I run out of one, but currently I am loving the TRESemmé’s Healthy Volume that gives you lots of volume and body. I have a lot but very fine hair that will just stick to my face, so I appreciate any product that helps me get that beautiful and natural volume. The best thing is that it also lasts forever, so you don’t have to worry about washing your hair every day.
On days when I don’t wash my hair, I will use these next items and them only. The Batiste Dry Shampoo in blush of tropical and the Leyla Milani Big Hair Don’t Care volumizinng powder. These products are a serious life saver considering that I have very oily hair with no volume. And these are the perfect fix!! First I use the Batiste dry shampoo to remove all the oil from my scalp and then I use the volumizing powder to give my hair volume and texture. I’m serisouly obsessed with these two and can honestly say that I couldn’t live without them.
Once the shower is done, I quickly do my make up [you can see my detailed make up routine here] it’s time for clothes. I do set out my clothes the night before because I can really not be bothered to worry about that the day of. It is so much easier and less time consuming, that no matter what time it is the night before, I will still make it a point to choose my outfit.
Then comes my FAVOURITE time of the day: breakfast. I love breakfast and I love making sure that neither my boyfriend or I leave the house hungry.
Since we did go to the gym, we both normally take our protein shakes first. Mine is by Pure Protein, which I get at Target, and I never thought I’d enjoy taking a protein shake as much as I do thanks to Pure Protein’s Natural Whey Vanilla Powder. I picked the flavour vanilla and just add a banana or two (depending on how small they are), sometimes a big table spoon of honey, some almond or regular milk, two or three ice cubes and finally a scoop of the powder.
This tastes so good and it only has 130 total calories with 29g of protein. It is the morning, so taking in good calories and plenty proteins is very important to be able to get on with your day and keep your energy levels up.
For breakfast that day I made some toast with butter and a bowl of granola with yogurt for myself. This obviously changes daily depending on what we’re in the mood for.
My boyfriend and I are tea lovers, but I do need my morning caffeine to get on with the day, so I’ll make myself a coffee.
By now it will be around 8:20 o’clock in the morning, and time for me to start putting on my shoes to head out the door and go to work.
– My trousers & vest are very old but from Zara and are the comfiest high-waisted pants ever, the shirt is from American Eagle and these shoes are Ann Taylor (they are pretty old, so here are similar ones), purse is Michael Kors and my card holder (my wallet) is very old from Burberry –
Thank you so much for stopping by and reading my blogs, you guys have no idea how excited it gets me and how blessed and thankful I feel that you take the time to come and read my little stories.
Please let me know if you guys like these kinds of posts, and I’ll make sure to write them more often.
Lots of love, Yara
Lately, I have been asked a lot on Instagram how I do my make-up. And that’s funny because I am the laziest person in the morning, so doing my make up certainly comes after sleeping and breakfast and snuggling my puppy and boyfriend… But thank you for the very flattering and encouraging comments on Insta!! However, there are valid reasons of why I’m not too worried about make up as is…
It is definitely not my forte, I am very much lazy in the morning and would much rather snuggle my dog and my skills definitely have to be perfected.
However, I did find it flattering that somebody would want to know how I get my everyday look and that’s why I am writing this post.
So Here Are My Make Up Essentials
- Lotion with/ without SPF
I do try to always wear a facial lotion that contains SPF and this one from Neutrogena is awesome. It is light-weight, but very moisturizing and I love how dewy and glowy it makes my skin look once I apply it. Sometimes, however, I’m very naughty and do like to use this one from Origins. All of their GinZing line is incredible, but this moisturizer is definitely one of my favourites. It is oil-free but contains panax ginseng and coffee bean and will make your skin look incredible.
One thing that took me a while to realize, is how much of a difference a concealer can make to your look. Even if you’re trying to keep it nice and simple like me, or if you’re trying to do a full face of make up like some artists, one product that won’t be missing is this one. One of my all time favourites is the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger, if I’m paler, or Custard, if I’m a bit more tan in the summer season. It really is super creamy and blends out very easily with a Beauty Blender (which is what I use on a daily basis). Another concealer that I really like is this one by L’Oreal Paris. All of the items in the True Match line are amazing and really affordable.
For bronzer I came across two that I now can’t think I can live without. The Nars Blush and Bronzer Duo in Orgasm/Laguna, that I even own in the mini size, and Benefit Cosmetics’ Hoola. Both of these are toward mattes and won’t give you much shine, which is what I love. Sometimes all I will wear is mascara and the Hoola bronzer, and it will make my skin look super healthy and defined, but still natural. Definitely two favourites that won’t change anytime soon.
For blush I just use the one that comes in my little duo kit from Nars. What I love most about this blush is that it has the slightest shine to it, almost as if you had added a highlighter. It’s a beautiful pink color that gives you cheeks a very naturally healthy look.
- (Sometimes) Eyeliner
I truly don’t always put on eyeliner. It actually only rarely happens and I have to have a good reason, like a wedding or a party, to actually take the time to do my eyeliner. But when it does happen, I only use Stila’s Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner. It lasts all day, doesn’t smudge and is easy to apply even for someone like me who isn’t very good at it.
- (Sometimes) Setting powder
When I do have to make my concealer last me all day, because of an event or dinner, I will sometimes use the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. It is the only powder that doesn’t make me feel like I’m wearing two tons of make up, but keeps everything under my eyes in place ALL DAY LONG. No kidding, your concealer will look amazing even after 8 hours of wear.
- Mascara: Better than Sex by Too Faced
My holy grail, and probably the only thing in this routine I would not be able to live without, is mascara. I love mascara, love how it makes the eyes look bigger and brighter and how much it can put a look together. And there is only ONE mascara that I will never give up on and that is Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. There might be other good ones out there, but I have yet to find a mascara wand that make my eyelashes look so big, dark and voluminous as this one. Plus, it lasts forever and still performs even when you’re scraping what’s left of it. I haven’t tried many more products from Too Faced, but if they’re as good as their mascara, it’s worth investing in!
- Lip balm
Lastly, my second favourite product of all: lip balm. The reason why I’m not a big fan of lipsticks is because they tend to dry out my lips and in this Colorado weather, that means chapped lips in no time. So instead of going for a lipstick, I like to stick with a lip balm like the Burt’s Bees Honey Moisturizing Lip Balm. It doesn’t make your lips shiny, which I love, but it keeps them soft and moist the whole day. It’s such a good product, even my boyfriend uses it !!
And that is all I use as my everyday make up. Like said, I try to keep it easy, simple and quick in the mornings, so this has been working out for me. I’d love to hear if you guys have any suggestions for products or any questions for me as far as these go.
Thank you again for hopping by and spending some time with me by reading these blogs.

I am back with this weeks inspiration and let me tell you that it was hard. There have been so many bloggers, vlogers and fashionistas I have been following lately, especially with this years New York Fashion Week, that I had a hard time choosing but one person to write about.
After making a list of top five and looking what I liked the most about them, I realized that I always went back to this one lovely lady to check out what she was wearing, which shows she was attending and of course what her lovely puppy was doing.
So here goes my #InspirationoftheWeek!
My list of things I love about her and that inspire me were so long, that I had to (sadly) try to cut it short. She is, hands down, one of my FAVOURITE bloggers out there.
Almost as crazy a dog-lover as I am, her sweet posts and pictures with Fitz is the cutest Golden-Doodle ever. Always having fun and taking him places with them. Just adorable!
Emily’s fashion style is classy, modern and always appropriate. When I am looking for an outfit for my day, I always find myself going through her blog to find inspiration and ideas. It seems like she is always dressed appropriately, even if it is to just walk Fitz or go to the mall.
She has done a blog post about her photography (or John’s hahahahha) before, but as much as they made it seem so simple, I do seeing the beautiful quality and angles of their photos. Those made me what to invest in a good camera. I haven’t yet since I have no idea of what the best options are for a reasonable price, but you’ll see in the photos of the couple below that they’ve got the hang of it!!
In her Snap Chats she always has a great sense of humor, is honest about how she feels about questions that happen over and over again and people using her photos. She is so spontaneous, which is what a lot of bloggers seem to loose once they grow a big audience.
Emily is also very open about her religion and believes and that is so refreshing for a young person to see. She inspires me every day not to loose my beliefs and trust in my religion.
Lastly, I only have one word on her relationship with John: #GOALS. I mean… Look at them!!
I guess I should stop myself here before I write a blog post the size of the Bible on her and look creepy. But seriously, go follow her and you won’t regret it !!!
Lots of love, Yara ♥
